What is Form 10B?

Form 10B is an audit report required under Section 12A(b) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, for charitable trusts and religious institutions to claim tax exemption. This report is certified by a Chartered Accountant (CA) and includes details about the income, expenditure, and activities of the trust or institution.

Steps to File Form 10B Using Income Tax Auditor

Step 1: Input Auditor Information

Navigate to Transactions → Auditor Information → Other Audit Report Details.

      

  1. Select Act and Section: Choose the relevant Act Name and Section from the dropdown menus.
  2. Audit Status: Indicate whether the entity has been audited (Yes or No).
  3. Dates: Enter the Date of the Audit Report and specify the Date of Furnishing the Audit Report.
  4. Firm and Auditor: Select the Firm/Proprietorship Name and Auditor's Name from the dropdown lists.
  5. Auto-fill PAN/Membership: The Firm PAN No. and Membership No. will auto-populate based on stored information.

Step 2: Select Form 10B

From the Forms option, select Form 10B from the list of available forms.

      

Step 3: Fill Out the Form

  1. Complete all required fields in the form and save it.
      
  1. The software is pre-configured with the Income Tax requirements, including all annexures and schedules mandated in Form 10B.
  2. Navigate to Import → Client Master → Form 10B → Import 10B/10BB JSON to import the JSON file.

Step 4: Generate the JSON File

  1. Go to Form10B → Form10B JSON to generate the file.
      
  1. When prompted, indicate "Yes" for the original form or "No" for a revised form.
      

Step 5: Generate the Audit Report

  1. Access the Report section of Form 10B via Form 10B → Form 10B Report.
      

Step 6: Upload the JSON File

  1. Upload the JSON file using the designated upload option.
      
  1. Attach supporting documents:
    1. Click on the three dots to attach the Balance Sheet.
    2. Click on the three dots to attach the P&L Report.
      

Step 7: Submit the Report

  1. Click the Submit button to upload the report to the Income Tax Portal.

Automated Submission via Software

  1. Complete Form 10B: Ensure all fields and annexures are accurately filled.
  2. Submit via Software: Use the Submit button in the software interface.
  3. Automatic Portal Filing: Upon submission, the software will automatically process and file the form with the Income Tax Portal.
  4. Confirmation: Ensure you receive confirmation that the form has been successfully filed.
