How to Register Deductor on Reporting Portal for 206AB/CCA Verification:
Compliance Check for Section 206AB & 206CCA
Background:
The Finance Act of 2021 introduced Sections 206AB and 206CCA into the Income-tax Act, 1961, effective from July 1, 2021. These sections impose a higher Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) or Tax Collected at Source (TCS) rate on "Specified Persons" as defined within the new sections.
In response to this, the Income Tax Department has introduced a new functionality, "Compliance Check for Sections 206AB & 206CCA," aimed at assisting tax deductors/collectors in verifying whether a person falls under the category of "Specified Person" as per Sections 206AB & 206CCA. This functionality is accessible through the Reporting Portal of the Income-tax Department (https://report.insight.gov.in).

Overview:
The "Compliance Check for Sections 206AB & 206CCA" functionality enables tax deductors/collectors to verify if a person is a "Specified Person" as defined in Sections 206AB & 206CCA. This functionality is available to the Principal Officers of the registered Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number (TAN) at the home page of the Reporting Portal after login.

To execute this process through the software, follow these steps:
Step 1:
Go to Online Activity >> Income Tax Activity:

Step 2:
Click on the My Account Button For TDS/ Deductor ITD Login:

Step 3:
After Login on the Income Tax Portal Click on Pending Action >> Reporting >> Reporting Entities :

Step 4:
Click on New Registration and then Continue:

Step 5:
Select the Form type as Compliance Check (Tax Deductor & Collector).
The Entity Category will be displayed based on the category in which TAN is registered at e-filing.
Click Continue to navigate to the entity details page:

Step 6:
Enter relevant entity details on the entity details page and click on the “Add Principal Officer” button to add the Principal Officer.

Step 7:
Enter Principal Officer details on the Principal Officer Details page. If more users such as Nodal Officer, Alternate Nodal Officer and other users are to be registered at this instance, adding the details of such users can be continued, otherwise the same can be done after registration also. After that Click on the Preview button to view the entered entity and principal officer details:

Step 8:
Click on the Submit button to submit the Registration request.  After that, the Acknowledgement receipt of the registration request is provided through the portal and the same will also be shared through an email notification to the Principal Officer:

Once the registration request is approved by the Income-tax Department, an email notification will be shared with the Principal Officer along with ITDREIN details and login credentials.
ITDREIN - Income Tax Department Reporting Entity Identification Number (ITDREIN) is a system-generated 16-character identification number allotted by the Income Tax Department to an Entity once the registration process is completed.

Step 9:
For activation of the Principal Officer’s account, below mentioned steps are to be followed:
      1. The principal Officer receives an e-mail along with temporary credentials.
      2. The principal Officer will log into the Reporting Portal using temporary credentials.
      3. The principal Officer will be prompted to change the temporary password.
      4. The Principal Officer’s account shall be deemed active once the password is changed successfully.

Hope this helps.
