Process for Tagging Mismatched Challans on the TRACES Portal (Applicable during Correction Return Filing in case of Challan Mismatch Errors)

     

This guide outlines the step-by-step process to correctly tag unmatched challans on the TRACES portal via ExpressTDS.

Step 1: Access the TRACES Portal through ExpressTDS
  1. Log in to the ExpressTDS portal (https://www.expresstds.com/) using your credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Deductor Master page and select the relevant deductor.
  3. Click on the TRACES icon to be redirected to the TRACES login page.
      

Step 2: Initiate a Correction Request
  1. After logging into the TRACES portal, go to the Defaults menu.
  2. Select Request for Correction.
  3. Enter the required Basic Statement Details and submit the request.
Step 3: Track the Correction Request
  1. Navigate to Track Correction Request.
  2. Locate the relevant statement and click on the Available option to proceed.
    

Step 4: Begin the Correction Process
  1. Re-enter the TRACES portal.
  2. Provide the mandatory (*) details and click Proceed.
     
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions and click Proceed with Transaction.
     

Step 5: Access Challan Details
  1. Based on your selected statement, click View Details.
     
  1. If the Unmatched Challans option is available, select it.
  2. Click on Edit Unmatched Challan Details to review the entries.
     

Step 6: Tag the Challan
  1. Review the details and click Tag Challan.
     
  1. Select the applicable challan(s) and click Tag Selected Challan.
     
  1. Verify the challan information carefully before proceeding.
     
Notes
Note: Successfully tagged challans will be highlighted in orange.
      

Step 7: Submit the Correction Statement
  1. Click Submit Correction Statement.
     
  1. Confirm the submission by clicking the Confirm button.
     
  1. Select View Statement to review the updated correction statement.
     
  1. The correction statement will now appear under the Correction Ready for Submission section.
     

Step 8: Final Submission
  1. Reopen the correction statement by clicking View Statement.
     
  1. Click Submit for Processing to finalize the submission.
     

Notes
Important: This step completes the challan tagging and submission process.
     

Step 9: Track Submission Status
  1. Go to Defaults → Track Correction Request to monitor the status of your submitted correction.
     

By following these steps, users can accurately tag unmatched challans and ensure proper submission of correction returns via the TRACES portal.
