Process to Check Outstanding Demand in ExpressTDS

In Express TDS, an Outstanding Demand refers to a notice issued by the Income Tax Department when there is a discrepancy between the TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) reported by the deductor and the TDS actually deposited. This occurs when the department identifies that the deductor owes an additional TDS amount due to underpayment, short payment, or incorrect filing. Such discrepancies are reflected in the Outstanding Demand section of Express TDS.

Steps to Check Outstanding Demand in ExpressTDS:

Step 1: Log in to ExpressTDS
  1. Log in to the ExpressTDS portal with your username and password, the Deductor Master page will open, listing all the deductors.
Step 2: Select the Deductor
  1. From the Deductor Master, click on a particular deductor to access their page.

      


Step 3: Choose Financial Year
  1. In the deductor’s profile, use the dropdown menu to select the relevant financial year.
      
  1. Ensure that the financial year corresponds to the period of the outstanding demand.
Step 4: View Outstanding Demand
  1. Scroll down to locate the Outstanding Demand section.
      
  1. Review the details, including:
    1. Amount due
    2. Nature of the demand (e.g., short payment, late payment)
    3. Relevant assessment year.

Important Note: Ensure that the data sync is completed in ExpressTDS to get the latest updates from the Income Tax Portal.
By following this process, you can easily check and verify the Outstanding Demand for any deductor in ExpressTDS.
