Process to File ITR-U Using KDK Express ITR
This guide provides a step-by-step process for filing an Updated Income Tax Return (ITR-U) using the KDK Express ITR software. The ITR-U form is filed under Section 139(8A) of the Income Tax Act to update income previously reported in an original, belated, or revised return.
Step-by-Step Filing Process
Step 1: Log in to KDK Express ITR
- Navigate to https://app.kdksoftware.com/login and sign in using your registered user credentials.
Step 2: Select the Client
- From the client list, choose the taxpayer for whom the ITR-U is to be filed.
Step 3: Initiate ITR-U Filing
- Go to the ITR Summary section of the selected client.
- Click on the ITR-U option under the Start Filing menu.
Step 4: Choose the Reason for Updating the Return
- Select the appropriate reason for filing the updated return from the predefined options as per the Income Tax Act. Reasons may include omission or wrong reporting of income, reduction of carried forward loss, or incorrect rate of tax, etc.
Step 5: Auto-Fetch Previous Return Data
- The system will automatically populate the income details from the most recently filed return (original/revised/belated) into the ITR-U form.
Step 6: Modify Income Details
- Click the Edit button to update income figures as necessary under each head (Salary, House Property, Capital Gains, etc.).
- Ensure that the updated values are accurate and supported by relevant documentation.
Step 7: Review Updated Income
- Verify the Updated Total Income and ensure it reflects the intended corrections or additions.
Step 8: Confirm Amended Computation
- Go to the ITR-U > Amended Income section to review the recalculated income and tax computation after changes are applied.
Step 9: Enter Tax Paid Details (Section 140B)
- Under the Tax Paid (u/s 140B) section, enter details of any additional tax paid.
- Click Edit to add or modify Challan details such as BSR Code, Date of Payment, Serial Number, and Amount.
Step 10: Finalize and Submit
- Navigate to e-Filing > Review and e-Filing.
- Perform a final review of all data entered.
- Click Proceed for e-Filing to submit the ITR-U electronically through the portal.
Post-Filing Tips
- Retain a copy of the acknowledgement for your records.
- Ensure timely payment of any additional tax liability to avoid penalties or interest.
- You may recheck the status of the filed ITR-U under the client dashboard or the e-Filing history.
