Steps to Export and Import Capital Gain Data via Zerodha Excel Template
Exporting Capital Gain (Tax P&L) Data from Zerodha
Step 1: Access the Tax P&L Section
- Log in to your Zerodha account.
- Click on the Reports tab.
Step 2: Select Tax P&L
- Choose the Tax P&L option from the reports menu.
Step 3: Select the Financial Year
- Choose the financial year for which you want the data.
- Select the appropriate quarter range for the report.
Step 4: View and Download Report
- Click on the arrow button to display the segment-wise capital gains report.
- Scroll down and click on Download Tax P&L report for all segments to download the complete report.
Importing Capital Gain Data via Zerodha Excel Template
Step 1: Navigate to Capital Gain Section
- In your tax software, go to the Transaction section and select Capital Gain.
Step 2: Choose Import Source
- Select the appropriate head, such as Shares or Mutual Funds based on your data.
- From the Excel Import drop-down menu, choose Zerodha as the template type.
Step 3: Upload the Excel File
- Click the button to import data from Excel.
- When prompted, confirm with "Yes" and locate your Zerodha Excel file on your computer.
Step 4: Import Data
- Open the Excel file and allow the software to process and import the data.
- Wait for the process to complete.

- Correct Head Selection: Ensure you select the proper head (e.g., Shares or Mutual Funds) that matches the data in the Excel file.
- Error Handling: If you select the wrong head, you may encounter an error message. Double-check your selection to avoid such errors.
